PROBLEM: Orphaned customers often occur when a piece of the supply chain is missing. There are three parts that make flow to a customer possible supply at a SERVICE NODE, demand at a CUSTOMER NODE, and a valid mode of transportation between the two nodes.
TROUBLESHOOT:
- Left click on a SERVICE NODE that you believe should be able to service the customer.
- Select Connect and pick the mode you wish to use to connect the customer
- Right click on a customer that is "orphaned"
- If a connection is made, you will see a solid line to the customer and the customer node will turn a full color
- If you get an error message that says that the mode is not valid, this is a connection that cannot be made
- If you get a dashed line, you need to look for the missing piece in your supply chain.
- Left click on the customer node and open the inspector--->verify that it contains DEMAND
- Left click on the service node and open the inspector--->verify that it contains SUPPLY
- If your service node is not a SUPPLY NODE, then verify that it has valid lanes from a SUPPLY NODE. To do this you can recreate all lanes from the original SUPPLY NODE to the SERVICE NODE by recreating a connection and confirming that the origin and destination are in the correct direction.
