DEFINITION: The DISCOUNT FACTOR is a multiplier that modifies the rate for a given mode. Every lane that utilizes this mode will have its costs adjusted by this factor.

FORMULATION:
[Cost Per Unit] = [Discount Factor] * [Reference Data Cost Per Unit]
EXAMPLE: A user creates an FTL lane between two nodes and the reference data returns a net unit cost of $0.02/lb. If the discount factor is changed from 1.0 to 1.1, the new cost for that lane will be $0.022/lb--and all other FTL lanes will likewise be increased by 10% (multiplied by 1.10).
