A user can create a lane between two nodes either in the interface itself or via the import mechanism.

Interface Method

  1. Right Click on the node you wish to use as the origin.

  2. Select Connect from the pop-up menu.

  3. Look for the control box at the bottom and select the mode you wish to use.

  4. Left click on the intended destination(s).

  5. You should see a line drawn from the origin to the destination and flow along that lane if it is optimal given the current scenario structure.

NOTE: A pair of nodes can only have one lane associated with it at the moment, and that lane can run only one direction. If you are looking to create a blended transportation profile or to have lanes that run both directions you should utilize multiple different nodes sharing the same location.

Import Method

  1. Use the "Lanes" sheet in the import file in order to define a lane.

  2. Define an origin which corresponds to a node in the "Nodes" sheet.

  3. Define a destination which corresponds to a node in the "Nodes" sheet.

  4. Name the lane (optional).

  5. Define the mode as one of the following:

    • FTL

    • LTL

    • Ground Parcel

    • Intermodal

    • Ocean

    • FTL f(x)

Connecting nodes between different geographical regions

  • Not all nodes can be connected by land based modes.  There are two ways to connect nodes between different regions.

    • Use FTL f(x) -- this mode can be used between any two nodes.  If there is no data to show the driving distance, the geographical distance will be used.

    • Use Ocean--Ocean can be used to connect between two ports--users can create two ports anywhere and connect with an ocean lane.  Users do need to fill in costs, times and distances for
